This document has now been replaced by Sewage Sludge on Farmland: Code of Practice, and archived. This Code of Practice applies to the use of sewage sludge on agricultural land in the United Kingdom. The Code has been prepared to complement the Sludge (Use in Agriculture) Regulations 1989 covering GB which enforce the provisions of the EC Directive 86/278/EEC, on the protection of the environment, and in particular of the soil, Department of the Environment Document.
